Back by popular demand we give you Subjekt’s Step Back and Dunky Frummer. These 2 tracks from last years highly acclaimed Direction Correction long player are re-presented here in full-on loud 12” glory. First up is Step Back which is just about as freaky 21st century electro house as it gets. Tripped out crispy beats lay the foundation for this futuristic slice of sonic abstractions until half way through where it’s heads down for a serious jackathon. Relentless!
Next up is the criminally overlooked Dunky Frummer who, for a select few (including Tom Middleton and Switch), has been destroying the dancefloor wherever it’s dropped. This is basically a low slung, dirty house groove with some peaktime party shenanigans thrown in for good measure. Simplicity is the key here. Wind it up and watch it go!
If it’s deep and moody late night business you’re after then flip over for Manoo and François A’s epic remix of Step Back. This Lyon based duo have been causing a stir on the deep house scene with killer mixes on Buzzin’ Fly as well as releases on DJ Deep’s incredible Deeply Rooted House label. Here they deliver a warm, ambient groover which should help to put these boys firmly on the map.
Finally we have a Square One remix of Step Back which mixes slightly tougher, electronic sonics with a deep, old school groove. Crisp ‘n’ dry!
