Freerange at AKA on 3rd May 2008

Special thanks to everyone who is coming down to the Freerange AKA sessions every month. The night is building nicely and some great guests in the pipeline so dont miss......

On Saturday 3rd May Jimpster will be joined by 2 masters of the deep hailing from Cork known as Fish Go Deep. Greg and Shane have been running their legendary night Go Deeper for over 18 years now so to say these guys have a wealth of experience is somthing of an understatement. On top of this they were responsible for the underground smash Cure And The Cause! Go Deep was one of Jimpsters fave gigs he played at last year so check how these guys do their thing at AKA.

Latest release - Palm Skin Productions: Magnetic North

Palm Skin is back with this, his 4th Freerange release entitled Magnetic North. As with his previous you can expect some immaculately produced deep, dubby house that will sooth the soul and lift the spirits.

Kicking off with Magnetic North we’re treated to a lush, layered, atmospheric groove that keeps things building nicely but subtly over it’s eight and a half minutes duration.

On remix duties we have the latest German artist to start rising up the ranks; Solomun. The Diynamic label boss and creator of some of the most exciting electronic music alongside teammates Stimming and H.O.S.H. has been rocking things the last year or so.

Motorcitysoul - Mango

Motorcitysoul's debut Freerange release see the duo go head long into an uplifting, end of night anthem in the making entitled Mango. Lush string stabs and building arp lines layer up on top of of some beautifully stripped back beats and a syncopated bass line. The end result is a sublime, soulful slice of deep house that is guaranteed to warm your cockles.

Jimpster gets to work on the first remix and takes a more deep down and dirty approach by taking out all the keyboards and going for a straight up in ya face drum dub. Effects swirl around while a simple stab hook locks you in and an old school bass line works its magic down below.

Finally, that man Milton Jackson rears his lovely Scottish head once again for a carefully crafted tech house rework that adds some shuffle and vox sounds to great effect. A rolling, futuristic bouncer of a remix, which demonstrates once again why he’s such a popular producer right now.

Latest release - Freerange 100th Release part 2

Freerange celebrates it’s 100th 12” release with a double vinyl release (of which this is part 2) including brand new tracks from it’s key regular artists including Jimpster, Only Freak/Spirit Catcher, and Palm Skin Productions.

Jimpster starts proceedings with a brand new track entitled Got A Hold On Your Soul, an appropriate title for a track that’ll draw in the dancefloor with it’s warm, shuffling beats, lush chords and bleepy FX. An understated groover which will work a treat on the more discerning dancefloors across the globe.

Palm Skin Productions’ Lose It beefs things up a bit for an edgy tech house track with plenty of funk while Belgiums Only Freak return with Mental Overdrive (remixed here by their alter ego’s Spirit Catcher). They round things off in suitably driving fashion with a powerful, stripped back monster of a track.

Huge support from Jerome Sydenham, Nic Fanciulli and Karizma

Latest release - Colour Series: Orange 05 Sampler

Nuff quality tuneage in the pipeline for the coming months so here's a quick rundown.......

On top of this we have also found the time to put together the next installment of our ongoing Colour Series Compilations. In keeping with the initial concept, Orange 05 pools together some of the biggest Freerange tracks from the past year and intersperses them with four brand new exclusives to give a bang up to date round up of the Freerange sound. In addition to the CD there will be a vinyl sampler containing the 4 exclusives from Milton Jackson, Nitzan & Lasimo, Compuphonic and Homerun.

We're proud to have Frankfurt's freshest house production team known as MotorCitySoul joining Freerange for their first EP proper. We've been fans for a while but knew we had to get an EP after their excellent remix of Brett Johnson's Cuckoo in 2006. their Mango EP will be out at the end of March and will include remixes from Milton Jackson and Jimpster.

Palm Skin Productions will be making a welcome return with his new EP entitled Magnetic North in April. 2 brand new tracks are complimented with a remix from Hamburg's finest Slolmun who turns in an absolute belter.
