It all started on September 30th, 1976 when he entered this world in Austin Texas. Beginning very early on Jake's life mission obviously was going to be some expression in music. Jake grew up in a musical environment due to his father's 9-5 playing and touring with the Navy Jazz band as one of the trumpet players. Following in his the footsteps of his father Jake soon began to pick up the trumpet. The guitar, bass, and keys soon followed suit and found their way into jakes hands and ears. The willingness to spend time practicing coupled with an open mind to new sounds took Mr. Childs through rock to jazz to techno to house.

His early experiences with dance music in the 90's mostly took place in San Antonio's various clubs, raves and at endless after hours get togethers. It was during this time that Jake attended and dropped out from the art institute with what could have been a music business and audio degree. It wasn't until moving to Houston that all other styles of music took a back seat to house. This shift in music preference can be attributed to a couple of factors: The first being the mk ultra radio show on rice's ktru, also the Scooby dew crews events as well as Wednesday nights at the orbit room played a role in the new focus.

Through out the next couple of year's relationships with Johnny Fiasco and Chris Lumm along with LBO, Chello and Paul Dyne helped to solidify the next logical step, to start a record label. Uni.form Recordings received the breath of life. The first release was a promo cd only mix by Sista Stroke titled "Soulquarian." This effort cemented in Jakes mind what he wanted to do. He wanted to develop and nurture uniform's identity as an entity as well as help develop and support the artists that would come to be on the label. The roster boasts some of the best of the new producers as well as legends in the world of house such as: Johnny Fiasco, Jacob London, No Assembly Firm, Pete DaFeet, Black Soul, Matt Bandy, The Swirl People, Natural Rhythm, The Inland Knights, Santiago and Bushido and Vernan And Decosta to name a few.

The immediate future promises to deliver many frequent flier miles to Jake's credit with bookings in New Zeeland, Croatia, Ireland, England, France, South America and New Zeland. Releases of Jakes production work has already appeared on labels such as Drop Music, Seasons, Fetish, Dust Trax White, Housetown and Vista. Following the success of Jake's first two releases on Drop Music will be a full length album. Don't expect a bunch of DJ singles (though they are inevitable) on the full length as the plans are for a real artist album that can be listened to beginning to end with a vision destination in mind. There are also projects in the works with: tango/nightshift/detour head Tony Hewit, Throw in the addition of the Agenda Media Group, a music promotions company, and it looks like the only shut eye may be on the plane.

Jake's work ethic and strength of vision will no doubt elevate his productions, label and promotions company to a reputation and status of world class. He may already be there but don't tell him, yet.
